2023 SHOW GARDEN MEDALS

Founder’s Cup Award – Garden that is deemed “Best in Show” and a majority favorite of the Main Show Judges as well as the judges for the other awards listed below. Recipient receives a rotating sterling silver trophy which is passed on at the following year’s show. The award is bestowed during the NWFGS Garden Award Ceremony.

American Horticultural Society Environmental Award – Garden that best demonstrates the bond between horticulture and the environment, and inspires the viewer to beautify home and community through skillful design and appropriate plant material. Judged by Main Show Judges.

Fine Gardening Magazine Award – Garden that best balances the ideals of inspiration and attainability. This garden inspires gardeners to reach for new levels of design excellence and creativity while keeping those goals achievable. Judged by Fine Gardening editors and writers.

Best Use of Color Award – Garden the best incorporates dramatic color from leaves, forced blooms and winter blooming plants. Judged by regional design and horticulture experts.

Best Use of Horticulture Award – Garden that best incorporates plants incorporating color, texture, size, and shape to enhance the garden’s theme. Judged by regional horticulture experts.

GardenComm Outdoor Living Award - Garden that exhibits the most beautiful, creative, and educational ideas to encourage effective use of horticulture and design for functional outdoor living environments. Judged by members of GardenComm (Garden Communicators International).

Marenakos Award – Garden that best integrates natural stone in the landscape, using materials that support and enhance the garden’s theme and design. Judged by regional landscapers and stone masons.

Mutual Materials Award - Garden that best integrates bricks and pavers in the hardscapes, using manufactured materials that support and enhance the garden’s theme and design. Judged by regional landscapers.

Ethel Moss People’s Choice Award – Favorite garden as voted by the public. Recipient receives a permanent plaque, and a rotating trophy which is passed on at the following year’s show. The award is bestowed on Saturday evening or Sunday morning during the show.

Fred Palmer Garden Creator’s Award – Garden voted the most accomplished by fellow Garden Creators. A permanent plaque is given.
